Five low-cost day trips to entertain the kids during the school holidays

Boomer low-cost summer holiday day trips

It’s that time of year again, the school holidays. Whilst it’s fab to be able to spend more time with the kids, it can be difficult to keep them entertained. Whether the sun is shining or not there are plenty of places you can go for a fun-filled day out.

Fun at the park

A trip to the park. No matter where you live there is likely to be one nearby. You don’t have to travel far and there will no doubt be an ice cream van to get a treat!

Whether there is a playground or an open field, you can easily fill in your day. If there are a few of you, take a tennis racket and a ball and you can play your own game of rounders. Get aunts, uncles and grandparents involved to make it a great day for the whole family.

Life’s a beach

The sun is shining so what better way to spend than day than sunning yourself at the beach? If you’re lucky enough to live close to a beach, then great. If not, don’t worry because we’ve got a great way to keep the kids entertained whilst you get there with our Boomer Fun Bundle!

Pack a picnic and make a day of it, kids love a picnic and it’s a great way to break up the day and give them a rest from making sandcastles. Odds are there will be a breeze, so take a kite with you. Hours of entertainment from something so simple.

Get educational at the museum

Over the school holidays a lot of museums around the country have themed exhibitions that kids will love. Some of these cost but a lot of them are free. Not only is this great for filling in the afternoon, it can also be educational for the kids… and you!

Time for a dip

If your kids can swim then that’s great, and if not, well, what a great time for them to start. Learning to swim at an early age is the best way. It’s also a great way to mix with children of similar ages. If your kids are a bit older, keep an eye out as some pools have days when they have inflatable obstacle courses.

At the bottom of the garden

If you don’t feel like venturing far, there are endless possibilities for ways to entertain the kids in your own back garden. Invite family and friends round for a BBQ, get an inflatable swimming pool or get the picnic blanket out. If you’re feeling creative set up a scavenger hunt with a treat as a prize and let your kids explore the garden at their own pace.

If you need some weeding done, get the kids involved! They love helping out plus it’s an extra pair of hands to get the job done.

Finally, remember to get on your bike! Boomer balance bikes are great for kids learning to ride. The Boomer grows with your child so that when they are ready to progress from balancing it’s there, ready for the pedals to be attached.
